You Know You're In LA When ..... You make over $250,000 a year and still can't afford a house. You take a bus and are shocked at two people carrying on a conversation in English. You can't remember............is pot legal. A really great parking space can move you to tears. You have a very strong opinion about where your coffee beans are grown. You assume every company offers domestic partner benefits, a fab exercise facility and tofu takeout. You're thinking of taking an adult class but you can't decide between aroma therapy or conversational mandarin. Your hairdresser is straight, your plumber is gay, the woman who delivers your mail is into BDSM and your tupperware Lady is a guy in drag. It's sprinkling and there are reports on every news station about "Storm Watch 2004. You call 911 and they put you on hold.

Guide Service, Casting, Reading the Stream, and FlyTying About Bob
Licensed, bonded and lots of fun. Whether you're just beginning or maybe in need of a little
tweaking, Bobs your guy. A licensed guide by Fly Casting It's fun, not too hard to learn, and definitely the most important part of FlyFishing. Presenting the fly to the fish properly will increase the odds that your day of fishing will be more productive and probably more fun. Lessons are $50 per hour and Bob will work at your convenience. A lesson during a lunch hour is not unheard of. For info on FlyCasting please Email Bob and leave us a message and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. Reading the Stream There's nothing wrong with going out and pounding the stream but a lesson or two can save you a lot of time and teach you some of the etiquette that makes spending a day on the stream more enjoyable. Pools, riffles, undercut banks, head and tail of the pool, the hatch, these are some of the things you'll want to know before you hit the stream. Safety is always the first thing Bob teaches. Safety in gear, wading, and safety on when and where it is that you go. For a day on the stream with Bob you'll be picked up, driven to the stream, fish for few hours, have lunch, fish for a while longer, and then be returned to the pickup spot. A day on the stream with Bob is $175. For more info on availability please Email Bob and leave a message.
If you want to go fishing for the first time and you don't know how to begin, start with the basic knot. The clinch knot. Nothing is more frustrating when your out for the first time and your hook keeps coming off when you get a bite. Fishing line or monofiliment is tricky to tie so here's a way to start........ When teaching kids I call it the "in and out knot", because all you do is stick the end of the line ( five or six inches) through the eye of the hook and twist it around the line a few turns and then bring it back in through the loop you created by the eye of the hook and back out through the loop you created with the in move. Pull both ends tight and you've got a very strong knot that's not going to come loose while playing a fish. Here's a diagram to show the simplicity of the improved clinch knot. Fly Fish America
